Australia's new party - and why you should join us

Our goal is to represent voiceless everyday Australians. We have no voice in our nation's affairs. We are unrepresented in parliaments and excluded from public decision-making. Our goal is to change this and shift the balance of power in society away from big institutions and powerful interests to individuals, families and communities.

The things that matter most to us - families, neighbourhoods, caring for others, voluntary activity, self-development and the character of people, local economies, local communities - are the things that matter least to our politicians. Political parties of both Right and Left have ignored social relationships for a century in their obsession with the market and the state. Neo-liberalism on the Right (the rule of the market) and managerialism on the Left (the rule of bureaucracy) have dominated politics. Together they have corroded society, undermined personal and social responsibility, weakened community, and turned unique individuals into clients, beneficiaries, customers and labourers, detached from their relationships and communities.

Social relationships - not the market, or the state - should be the prism through which we assess policy. This is common sense. This is the Australian tradition. Neither Left nor Right. We warmly invite you to join us.

National Council - Expression of Interest

Use the form below to express your interest in participating on our inaugural National Council.

Our National Council comprises members around Australia who wish to play a leadership role in creating a large and influential organisation able to represent ordinary people who otherwise are without a voice. The next 12 months will be a key period of activity for the Council in preparing an organisation to participate in the federal election in 2013.

Please read the 12 Reasons ... Declaration and our Code of Conduct for members and indicate your agreement with them in the form below.

You must also declare that you are not a member of any other political party.

Please feel free to also send background material about yourself, papers you have written, or a CV if you wish. Please forward these to:
