Program
This national conference will explore
innovative community responses to Australia's ongoing vulnerability to natural
disasters and need for effective disaster risk management and emergency
services.
It's emphasis is on community-based
innovation, self-help and leadership, with the aim of identifying and
strengthening effective grassroots community responses to the ravages of fire,
flood, drought and wind.
The conference will identify cases around the
country where social innovation and self-help are being implemented in creative
ways.
The conference will bring together
community innovators and leaders, service practitioners, researchers, policy makers, social
entrepreneurs and workers in community agencies who are interested in furthering
social innovation and community self-help in these areas.
Venue
The Angliss Conference Centre
is located in the Melbourne CBD, on the corner of LaTrobe and King Streets, on
the fifth floor.
It is close to train and tram
services. Flagstaff railway station is one block away in LaTrobe St, and
Southern Cross station is three blocks away in Spencer St. Trams 23, 24, 30, 34,
and City Circle run along LaTrobe Street.
There are numerous
accommodation options close by, to suit all budgets.

The conference begins at 9.15am
on both days, finishing at 5.00pm on day one and 3.30pm on day two.
